The Chase Sapphire Reserve card offers an annual travel credit of $300 and also 3x on travel purchases but can you stack the benefits? Yes you can! Travel purchases covered by the annual travel credit do earn you 3x points.
While this isn’t a huge benefit, it is very generous of Chase to give you points on something they pay for. Earning 3x on the $300 annual credit will earn you 900 Ultimate Rewards a year and if you value Chase Ultimate Rewards points between 1.5 to 2.5 cents per point, it equates to an extra $13.5 to $22.5 dollars.
If you are in your first card member year, remember the annual travel credit is based on a calendar year rather than your card member year. This means you can receive two $300 annual travel credits while only paying for the $450 annual fee once. This means you can earn up to 1,800 Ultimate Rewards points or $27 to $45 in points for just using your annual travel credit.
While again this isn’t a huge benefit, it’s certainly nice to get up to 7.5% back in points on the annual travel credit. Since you can earn two $300 annual travel credits per year, this means you can earn up to $45 in points for just using your travel credit. Pretty awesome if you ask me!
Who else finds it awesome Chase gives you free points for using your annual travel credit?
