Generally the recommendation you will find on this blog is to sign up for credit cards, earn the sign up bonus, then cancel the card before the annual fee hits (or try to earn a retention bonus). Certain hotel credit cards though are worth holding onto year after year for the free annual night certificate. The list below is exclusively for credit cards that offer free annual nights when paying the annual fee without a spending requirement. Certain hotel credit cards offer free annual nights after spending a certain amount annually.
Cards with Free Annual Nights with No Spending Requirement
Category Restriction: Category 1-4
Annual Fee: $75
Category Restriction: Category 1-5
Annual Fee: $85
Category Restriction: None
Annual Fee: $49
Out of the list, the Chase IHG card is the most rewarding as there is no category restriction and it carries the lowest annual fee. The annual night can be used at any IHG property including the Intercontinental Bora Bora which can run upwards of $1,000 per night, not bad for a $49 annual fee. The Chase Hyatt and Chase Marriott cards are a bit more restrictive with have category restriction of 1-4 and 1-5 respectively, however, I would be surprised if you couldn’t find a room redemption that didn’t make the $75 and $85 annual fees worth it.
If I missed any cards, below comment below.
